About the Author: Rakesh Amar Goyal Raag
Rakesh Amar Goyal Raag was born on January 22, 1953, in Gurgaon, now Gurugram, Haryana, India, to Dr K. C. Amar and Dr (Mrs) Santosh Amar.
The authorial title Raag is formed from the first letters of Rakesh, Amar, and Goyal.
A science graduate and postgraduate in English literature, he spent thirty-five years as an officer in the banking sector. His professional career included service with the Reserve Bank of India, which he joined as a direct recruit officer in 1978. He later retired from a senior position.
His stories and articles have appeared in English and Hindi publications. His literary body of work includes six published books, comprising four novels and two collections of short stories.
The name Amar also carries a special family history. According to the author’s account, his father, a doctor, successfully treated the ruler of the princely state of Thana Devli in Kathiawar for a chronic abdominal ailment. In appreciation, the ruler bestowed upon him the title “Amar.” The title subsequently became an important family identifier.
