Interview with Gobinda Biswas, Author of The Aspiring Poems
1. Congratulations on the release of your book The Aspiring Poems. How does it feel to finally share your work with readers around the world?
Gobinda Biswas:
I was beside myself with joy when my brainchild, The Aspiring Poems, was finally published. I was speechless for a while, and immediately I informed all my friends across the globe that my dream child had been published by the grace of kind God, Lord Srikrishna, and Goddess Mother Saraswati.
2. What inspired you to write this collection of poems, and what message did you want to share through your writing?
Gobinda Biswas:
I always think of everything as a whole, not as a part. I strongly believe that if we can think for all of us, not only for ourselves, and if we can love the whole world—its human kingdom, animal kingdom, plant kingdom, and inanimate world—then true peace will exist. If we think only of a particular locality, province, country, particular people, animals, trees, or things, there will be no true peace. So, I believe that if we can truly love the world, we can love our society, others, and ourselves. This thought always inspires me, and I want to share it with my friends everywhere.
3. Your poems explore themes like humanity, peace, nature, and social challenges. What inspired you to focus on these subjects?
Gobinda Biswas:
I am a human being, and I have a deep humanistic attitude toward everyone and everything. I always want everybody and everything to live in peace. Just as human beings have the right to survive, nature and the environment also have the right to survive. If all creations of God can live in an amicable situation, then heaven will descend on this planet.
4. Can you tell us about your journey as a poet and how your writing has evolved since you started writing poems in 2013?
Gobinda Biswas:
At first, I composed poems without any uniformity in the total number of lines. Then, I composed poems of twenty lines each, where the second line rhymed with the fourth line of each stanza. Next, I tried my hand at composing poems where the last syllables of each line rhymed with one another. Now, I compose poems in free verse.
5. You have composed 683 original poems in English. What keeps you motivated to continue writing?
Gobinda Biswas:
I dream that, in the near or distant future, my poems will be widely read by millions of people across the globe, and they will be inspired by my thought: “I am because we are, and if all people are happy, I will also be happy.” This thought and dream keep me motivated.
6. Among all your published books, including The Sunny Poems, The Universal Poems, and The Aspiring Poems, is there any particular work that holds a special place in your heart? Why?
Gobinda Biswas:
Truly speaking, all my books of poems are my dream children, and they are equally important to me. In spite of that, The Sunny Poems is my first dream child, and so I have a special soft corner for it.
7. Some poems in The Aspiring Poems discuss important issues like war, suffering, and social responsibility. How do you see poetry contributing to social awareness?
Gobinda Biswas:
I strongly believe that poetry can play a leading role in changing hearts and societies in today’s conflict-ridden world. Poetry has a strong and everlasting pleasing and healing value, like other forms of art. Poetry can bind and unite all people of our world into a single and happy human race. It can create heaven on this blue planet. It can create a world free from all the vices of Pandora’s Box. It can create a world based on equality, liberty, and fraternity. It can create a sunny world where all people receive food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and education. It can create a world where every mind is filled with the holy poetic light of universal brotherhood and humanism.
8. What role does nature and the environment play in your poetry, especially in poems like “Don’t Kill the Trees”?
Gobinda Biswas:
I think and strongly believe that nature and the environment play the most vital role in our lives because they are an inseparable part of human existence. If there is a good relationship between humans and nature, people are happy. If it is not, people are not happy. So, I emphasize in many poems that we should protect nature and the environment.
9. Your poetry carries a message of peace and unity. What kind of change do you hope readers experience after reading your work?
Gobinda Biswas:
I strongly believe that poetry can influence social change because I know that many of my friends who have read my poems have been deeply influenced by them, and they have motivated others around them to create a beautiful environment.
10. Who are some poets, writers, or experiences that have influenced your writing style and creative journey?
Gobinda Biswas:
Poets like Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Shelley, Keats, Byron, Eliot, Pound, Owen, and Yeats, as well as my firsthand experiences of the harsh realities around us, have influenced me greatly.
11. Are you active on social media? How can readers connect with you and stay updated about your books and future projects?
Gobinda Biswas:

12. Where can readers buy The Aspiring Poems and your other books?

13. Do you have any upcoming writing projects or future poetry collections you would like to share with your readers?

14. What message would you like to give to aspiring poets and young writers who want to share their voices with the world?
Gobinda Biswas:
