An Interview with the Poet Behind the New Poetry Collection
Congratulations on the release of your book! How does it feel to finally share this work with readers?
Izzah Rahman: It feels vulnerable yet freeing to share something so personal. I’m grateful the poems can now find their own readers.
What inspired you to write this book, and when did you realize these poems belonged together as a collection?
Izzah Rahman: As a poet, I always wanted my poems to exist as a collection rather than stand alone. Over time, I realized these pieces were connected by shared emotions and themes.
The book explores quiet emotions like longing and presence. Why were these themes important for you to explore?
Izzah Rahman: I’ve felt these emotions and lived through these moments myself. Writing about them felt honest and deeply personal.
Your writing focuses on small, intimate moments. How do everyday experiences influence your poetry?
Izzah Rahman: Everyday moments led me closer to poetry. Small experiences often became the starting point for deeper reflection.
Why did you choose Roman Urdu as the medium for this collection, and what does it allow you to express differently?
Izzah Rahman: Since not everyone can read the Urdu script, I chose Roman Urdu, which is commonly used today. It allows readers to connect easily and move through the book comfortably.
Was there a particular poem in the book that was especially difficult or meaningful for you to write?
Izzah Rahman: Some poems took longer to write because they needed emotional clarity. They became meaningful simply by being honest.
How do you hope readers will feel after finishing the book?
Izzah Rahman: I hope they feel understood and less alone. Even quiet companionship is enough.
Do you see this collection as a reflection of personal experiences, or more as an emotional observation of others?
Izzah Rahman: The collection is a blend of both. Personal feelings often turn into shared emotions.
Are you currently working on another writing project, or do you plan to continue exploring poetry?
Izzah Rahman: I plan to continue exploring poetry. I have a huge collection of poems, as I’ve been writing for more than 10 years, and I would like to continue expressing myself through poetry and sharing my work in the future.
Are you active on social media? How can readers connect with you or follow your work online?
Izzah Rahman: Yes, I share my work and updates on social media. Instagram (@izzahs_blogverse) is the best way to stay connected.
Where can readers purchase your book?
Izzah Rahman: The book is available online on Amazon and other platforms as well. Updates are shared on my Instagram account.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Is there anything you would like to say directly to your readers?
Izzah Rahman: Thank you for reading with an open heart. I hope these poems stay with you when words are needed the most.
